Surviving to Thriving Workshop

Alice Jay, Gate Way Director, partnered with SHAR Detroit in leading a workshop for those who work with survivors of human trafficking and other forms of sexual exploitation. The two-day training, held October 14 and 15, 2023, was designed to deepen skills around working with survivors. This training will continue as part of a collaborative effort. Stay tuned for upcoming trainings and sign up opportunities.


Some of the topics included in the workshop:

  • What defines a survivor?

  • What is leadership?

  • Intersectionality and stages of change

  • Forms of trafficking

  • Where do I fit in?

  • How inquiry can lead to more effective advocacy

  • Faction mapping framework

  • Incorporating constructive feedback

This Trauma informed Training is to help any survivor leader or professional become more informed of all the moving pieces of the movement and is great opprotinity to partner with survivor leaders and have them train your students or staff.
